September:
Preparing some digital story telling with our laptops and we begin READ 180!!!
Students will be enjoying independent reading, computer instruction, recording their reading, vocabulary drill and spelling practice.
Workshop 1 will be in progress for 7th graders . We will met Freddy Adu and Irene Rodriguez, new immigrants to the U.S. We will continue to work on comprehension strategies, main idea, summarizing and writing into December in this workshop area. We will be starting the book, Rimshots. This is a collection of writings related to basketball.
We will also be working on our individual reading books based on each students' lexile score. Last years 7th graders read over 50 titles and passed the computerized assessments!!
Grade 8 will be working on Unit 5- Under Pressure. We will begin using or blog page soon. Both grades did a great job creating "I am From Poems" using descriptive language to tell about themselves. They are on display in the hall way with the students pictures. Great Job!

Grade 8- Nov. 5- Read Holocaust article and write a summary of the 10 most importan facts learned.
Grade 7- write a summary of the first Chapter of "The Outsiders"
